Trip to China / 057_Lesser_Three_Gorges

This is the entrance to the "Lesser
Three Gorges" which is a series of gorges on a tributary
to the Chang Jiang. This river, the Daning He, is much smaller,
faster, and is jade-colored instead of muddy brown. Dipping your
hand in it is, of course, good luck.
Up on the hillside in the upper
right of the picture is a billboard with the number 175. That
marks the 175 m height of the water after the dam is completed.
It will just cover the bridge and submerge almost all of the lesser
three gorges.
