9.1 IDL startup log

When you startup IDL with PaPCo, a lot of status messages are printed to the terminal window in which you started IDL. These messages include a list of environmental variables which have been set and a list of programs which are compiled. Assuming you've started PaPCo with the command line

idl papco_setup

this is what you should see: (papco_sample_startup_a.text)

After this the configure widget should appear. Once you've made your choices of modules, chosen your startup mode and exited this widget, startup will continue. (This step is skipped if you've started PaPCo with idl papco_startup.)

The example here is for choosing the modules ``plot type'', ``papco text'' and ``papco event'', and the startup mode ``Compile on startup'', ``Do not include add-Ins on startup'' and ``Verbose compile on startup'' (all the ``% Compiled Module:...'' messages are suppressed if you choose ``Quiet compile on startup''). The startup should continue with: (papco_sample_startup_b.text)

Once your setup is static and has been saved (using the ``Save & Done'' way of exiting PaPCo), you can use the ``Restore on startup'' and ``Quiet compile on startup''option and bypass the configuration widget by using idl papco_startup. Things should go much quicker, and the output is much shorter: (papco_sample_restore_startup.text)
