CEPPAD software developers,
New versions of the POLAR/CEPPAD Level-1 file writer and reader
programs are now available via anonymous FTP at
leadbelly.lanl.gov/pub/CCR/CEP_LZ.
The new L1-file writer code 'make_level_1.pro' version 2.04, includes
error checking and correction of the Telemetry/Acquisition format table
number - a critical parameter for properly interpretting the telemetry
data from the Level-0 file. Also in this version, assignment of a spin
quality flag value, which is then stored in the Spin Header (SH) level-1
file for each spin, is now enabled. Non-zero flag values are used to
indicate changes of mode/instrument-state occurring out of sync with
the
normal 16-spin blocking of the data. This quality flag parameter is
intended to identify those spins whose multi-spin samples may be the
result of 'mixed' modes/instrument-states as a result of the CEPPAD DPU
getting into an out-of-sync state-changing pattern. (The DPU programming
was altered on July 3, 1996 to keep it from getting into this state.)
The new L1-file reader code 'get_cep_data.pro' version 2.03, includes
a
bug fix and when executed, now prints a message indicating which version
of the code is running.

CEPPAD software developers,
A new version (2.02) of program 'GET_CEP_DATA.PRO' is now available
via anonymous FTP from leadbelly.lanl.gov/pub/CCR/CEP_LZ. This version
corrects a bug which caused HIST command words to have values of zero on
machines using 'network' encoding. It also has a corrected algorithm for
determining the record-range corresponding to the user-input time-range
-
the user specifying a partial day, would occassionally receive much more
or sometimes much less data than what was actually available in the
time-range requested. This has been corrected.
No changes have been made to the MAKE_LEVEL_1.PRO code at this time.

CEPPAD software developers,
A new version (2.03) of program 'MAKE_LEVEL_1.PRO' is now available
via anonymous FTP from leadbelly.lanl.gov/pub/CCR/CEP_LZ. This version
corrects bugs which caused very large Normal/Science mode level-1 files
to be created and eliminates a bug which caused the program to crash
while processing data accumulated using telemetry/acquisition table 3
(IPS only). I have replaced the old source file for 'make_level_1.pro'
located in this directory. I have also put into the directory a new
text file, 'ver_2xx_revisions.txt' which contains descriptions of the
version 2.xx revisions implemented to date.
